Holiday Ranch
September 8, 2015Holiday Ranch
This project started out as a remodel but the only element we kept from the existing structure was the foundation which was added onto. The home was designed for a newly married father, who works out of his home, with two grown children. The home sits at around 5,000 ft, with the two kids’ rooms upstairs with the game room. The main level was designed for entertaining, while still providing areas of privacy. The entry was designed as a stair hall gallery to give the sense of a much larger home. The staircase in the entry is shielded from view by an angled steel-clad half wall. Clerestory windows were incorporated to bring natural light to the interior gallery of the home. The gallery “red carpet” leads to the great room that is anchored by a steel and sculptural steel fireplace. Gabion walls were designing into the landscaping for privacy and grade changes help to anchor the home on the site.
