Bill Lowery, CGP

Bill was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Tucson when he was twelve. It was in Tucson that he built his first house at the age of twelve along side his father. They built the house by digging all the footings and grading by hand. All the work was done by Bill and his father with no outside sub contractors. It was at that time he learned to drive a truck. They would drive to the sand wash and load sand and gravel in the back of the truck. They would then unload it into a mixer where they mixed their own concrete and mortar. Bill got his first real building job after graduating from high school. He worked as a framer for a local contractor, they did everything from blitz builds to multi complex apartments.

In 1986, he decided it was time to make it on his own and move to the snowy mountains of Utah. He had been to Park City to ski and decided to move there and try to make a living. Upon moving there, he bought his first lot to build on in Midway, Utah. He decided it was his time to shine. Shortly after that he purchased a log home package and set out to do what he and his father had done. Which was to build it all on his own. Two things that he did different was to hire a professional excavator and a footing and foundation contractor. Two years after starting the project, he sold it and made a profit. From that point, he knew that he would be a builder for the rest of his life.

After building several homes for himself and living in them, he decided to get his Utah State Contractors License. After studying he took the exam and passed the first time and received his license in 1992. Before he had his license in hand, there were a few jobs already waiting for him. Bill built numerous spec and custom homes. He also framed houses for most of the general contractors in Park City at that time. The desert was looking really good to him in 2005 so he moved to Southern Utah where he built his personal residence. Not long after that he found that there was little work as a high end home builder in that area.

Bill began his career in August of 2007 with Jaffa Group Design Build as a Project Manager. This was his first experience working for a first class, top notched, and well organized construction company. He had the opportunity to display his level of leadership abilities and to bring jobs in on budget and on time. Most of his education in construction came from the school of hands on and hard knocks. He attended numerous classes to become a certified green builder and received his certification in 2009. He looks forward to building more certified green homes in the future. Being a father and grandfather, he would like to ensure that his family has clean air to breath and clean water to drink.
