Architect/Owner: Scott Jaffa, Jaffa Group Design Build
From day one owner/architect Scott Jaffa wanted to design an innovative energy conscious home that looked toward integrated design and energy solutions. A LEED for homes project naturally challenges the region and culture of architecture requiring cooperation from disciplines across the industry. From the start durability/accountability measures are implemented ensuring the building process and end product is suitable for the environment and climate. Community linkage of resources and site stewardship drives responsible solutions to growth especially when paired with water efficiency, waste reduction and environmentally preferred products. The energy and atmosphere portion of the LEED for homes program optimizes the energy performance of the home (HERS rating of 40 was awarded to this home). Lastly, the program focuses on Indoor air quality and proactive contaminant measures along with raising the awareness and education of both the home owner and community. Building for a better future simply will not work if future generations fail to embrace the role of green building and the long lasting benefits it embodies.

Leed Features
- Evacuated Tube System
Solar thermal heat generates enough hot water for domestic use and radiant floor heating. - Radiant Heating System
Maximizes energy gained from the solar thermal system heating the home without having to convert the suns energy into electricity. - Photovoltaic Array - 6 kW system
96% Inverter efficiency. Generates enough to run three hundred (100watt) Light bulbs all day. - High Efficiency Lighting
The entire home utilizes LED, Halogen or fluorescent lighting. Continuing to reduce the average amount of energy needed to power the home. - Home Energy Monitoring System
The fully integrated energy monitoring system allows the home owners to view energy consumption and turn on/off unnecessary lighting/heating/cooling appliances from any smart phone. In addition, sun sensors interact with automatic shades taking into consideration seasons and temperature.
