Plan Ahead for Window Treatments

Window treatments are an important element in any room. Sometimes it's nice though to have something that virtually disappears and is only visible when in use. One way that we have done this is by the use of a shade pocket. In this kitchen you will notice the roll down shades that can be used to help reduce the glare from the afternoon sun. In this application we created a box at the top of the window where the shade can roll into if you don't want to see it. This piece blends seamlessly with the rest of the window trim so that when it's up you don't even see the shade. This helps to highlight the window frame instead of having a blind interfering with the clean look of the woodwork. This is a valuable option when the window treatments are for functional purposes mostly.
