Vital Signs: Housing Still Has More to Give

The housing industry is back from its bust.

Housing starts seesawed in the final months of 2013, but for the fourth-quarter, starts averaged a monthly annual rate of just over 1-million units, the best performance since the second quarter of 2008 and close to double the worst pace during the recession. The increase suggests residential construction contributed to gross domestic product growth again in the fourth quarter.

Interiors

The dining room is an important feature of any home.

It's a place for people to gather and enjoy many great meals together. It can also be a gorgeous focal point in the home.

In this example you will notice that the dining room is open to the kitchen. It is clearly defined though by its lower wood beam ceiling and the fixture over the rug under the table. This room combines traditional elements like the rug with more contemporary ones like the table and chairs to create a unique and inviting room. It feels cozy and special from the rest of the home making it a real show piece.

More Comfortable Radiant Floor Heating

Warmboard adjusts its radiant heat output to quickly match changing heat loads throughout the day and night. This gives you the exact feeling of warmth you desire from a radiant floor heat system. The goal of any radiant floor heating system is to ensure that the temperature that you feel in your home is exactly the temperature you desire, and to maintain this ideal comfort minute by minute, hour by hour. No other radiant heat system can match the precise control and fast response of a low mass Warmboard radiant heat system.

Natural Linoleum Makes a Comeback

Natural linoleum – I remember it from my childhood, not as flooring, but as an art material. Smooth, leather-like, durable, and easily-carved, it was better than potatoes for print-making.

In the past 50 years, almost all so-called linoleum has actually been vinyl, with asbestos included for fire-proofing, insulation, and durability. Now, pushed by demand from eco-savvy designers and consumers, true linoleum is making a comeback.

Testimonial

“Scott and Richard were totally committed to delivering a product high in quality with a design that addressed all of our objectives. We couldn't be happier with the result. Another pleasant surprise has been their total commitment to resolving, or helping us resolve, post construction issues whether it involved problems that cropped up afterwards, help with ongoing maintenance or improvements we wanted to make over and above the original design. 'Service after the sale' is too trite. We experienced total commitment to our satisfaction, and made two very good friends along the way.”
