I was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Tucson when I was 12. It was in Tucson that I built my first house at the age of 12 a long side my father. We built the house by digging all the footings and grading by hand. All the work was done by my Father and me with no outside sub contractors. It was at that time I learned to drive a truck. We would drive to the sand wash and load sand and gravel in the back of the truck and then unload it into a mixer where we mixed our own concrete and mortar. I got my first real building job after graduating from high school. I worked as a framer for a local contractor. We did everything from blitz builds to multi complex apartments. In 1986, I decided it was time to make it on my own and move back to the snowy mountains. I had been to Park City to ski. I decided to move here and try and make a living. Upon moving here, I bought my first lot to build on. It was in Midway, UT and it was my time to shine. Shortly after that I purchased a log home package. I set out to do what my father and I had done in Tucson, build it all on my own. Two things that I did different were to hire a professional excavator and a footing and foundation contractor. Two years after starting the project, I sold it and made a profit. At that point, I knew that I would be a builder for the rest of my life. After building several homes for myself and living in them, in 1992 I decided to study for the Utah State Contractors License. I passed the first time. Before I had my license in hand, I had a few jobs waiting on me. I built numerous spec and custom homes as well as framed houses for most of the general contractors in Park City at that time. The desert was looking really good to me again so in 2005 I went to Southern Utah. I built my personal residence there. I like to say when I went South the economy followed me. It was not long after that, that I found there was little work for a high end home builder. In August of 2007, I started my career with Jaffa Group Design Build as a Project Manager. This was my first experience with working for a first class, top notched, and well organized construction company. I have had the opportunity to display my level of leadership abilities and my ability to bring jobs in on budget and on time. Most of my education in construction came from the school of hands on and hard knocks. I have attended numerous classes to become a certified green builder. I received that certification in 2009. I look forward to building more certified green homes in the future. Being a father and grandfather, I would like to ensure that they have clean air to breath and clean water to drink.
